The Advisor then utilized GPS and aerial imagery to provide the location of the vehicle to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). \n\n<p style=\"text-align: center; padding-bottom: 15px; padding-left: 15px; float: right; display: block;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/onstaronthejob.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/inset_logo_removed.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"400\"\/><br \/><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> <i>Source: Fox11 Los Angeles<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p>Once the stolen vehicle was in sight, CHP gave OnStar clearance to begin Stolen Vehicle Slowdown* by flashing the hazard lights of the stolen vehicle and confirming connectivity for officers following the vehicle. Law enforcement then confirmed conditions were safe to slow the vehicle down, and an Advisor sent a signal to reduce the vehicle\u2019s engine power to an idle speed \u2014 all while steering and braking functions remained intact. CHP officers then safely apprehended the criminal in Van Nuys. <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxla.com\/news\/corvette-police-chase-satellite-security-system-credited-with-stopping-van-nuys-pursuit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(Click here to watch the video.)<\/a><\/p><\/p>\n\n<p>On average, OnStar assists with approximately 1,500 Stolen Vehicle Assistance incidents per month to aid law enforcement and vehicle owners in North America.
