Honoring Telecommunicators

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week was designated as the second week of April, when all telecommunications personnel in public safety are appreciated and honored. One week doesn’t seem like enough time to express the heartfelt appreciation to these “heroes under the headset” who handle emergency calls for assistance. These specially trained, resilient individuals are truly the FIRST First Responders answering calls for help with calm voices, good judgment, empathy and compassion.

Telecommunicators are passionate and devoted to helping others by working extensive hours while on call 24/7/365; often missing breaks, holiday celebrations and family gatherings and even finding themselves answering calls for help from their own homes and families.

On behalf of OnStar, thank you to all the Emergency Communications Centers and Telecommunications professionals for your continued support, service and sacrifice to keep our communities safe. We couldn’t do what we do without you.
